Canada Summer Job Opportunity: Administrative Assistant

Status: Contract, 266.5 hrs in 13 weeks
Location: Scarborough, Ontario
Salary: $14.25/hour

Start date: August 16th, 2021

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Answers calls, takes messages, schedules meetings, and writes letters or prepares drafts.
  • Ensures that all inquiries receive a response and that there are no scheduling conflicts.
  • File maintenance in accordance with the FCC’s record retention policies
  • Opens and sorts mail and delivers it to the appropriate personnel.
  • Responds to email inquiries or routes them to the executive.
  • Proofreads reports and written documents for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.
  • Collects dues and fees from members, record transaction and process money receipts
  • Creates, maintains, and updates the database for membership fees and keeping track of renewal dates
  • Keeps the office neat and clean, organized and running efficiently
  • Oversees office supplies, orders them as needed and keeps track of inventory
  • Upkeeps and maintains Office equipment and heating and A/C system
  • Coordinates and educates volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned by project leads

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Completed Diploma or Degree or currently pursuing Post Secondary Education in Office Administration or Business Management or related field
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, independent; be able to find and communicate solutions with little supervision.

Canada Summer Job Opportunity: Website Designer

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Defines the web strategy for Frontline Community Centre, while staying consistent with the overall communication and public relations strategy of the organization.
  • Consults with Senior Management about web goals and development, confirming that overall standards for the appearance and usability are maintained for the website.
  • Interact with our members and marketing team to understand user and client needs and to keep the website continuously up to date.
  • Defines site objectives by analyzing user requirements and predicting system features and functionality.
  • Designs and develops user interfaces, navigation and responsive landing pages using best design practice.
  • Monitors and maintains the performance of the live website by optimizing site for maximum speed and responsiveness while ensuring website function and stability across all devices i.e. desktop, mobile, tablet
  • Architects, designs, develops and test front-end and back-end applications.
  • Develops web standards and guidelines for style, content, and code through research of current trends, usability testing of clients, surveys of clients and content administrators, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Resolves website performance issues while providing internal support and external customer service.
  • Manages and maintains the website back-end including the database, server integration and APIs.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Completed Diploma or Degree or currently pursuing Post Secondary Education in Computer Science, Web Designing or related field
  • Experience in Word Press, HTML, CSS, jQuery, API web integration and User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) will be an asset

Canada Summer Job Position: Youth Worker

Status: Contract, 266.5 hrs in 13 weeks

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Familiarizing with youth-related difficulties, particularly within vulnerable cohorts such as South Asian Communities.
  • Creating and rolling out targeted, sustainable campaigns to minimize inequities.
  • Plan, develop and implement tutoring programs to allow youths to develop meaningful academic skills
  • To provide opportunities for youths to foster self-esteem, and promote positive social skills within the school and community
  • Information and referrals service that support newcomer youths, learn about, and understand Canadian systems in their settlement process.
  • Facilitate access to needed referrals and appropriate services in the community where there are barriers due to language, culture, and race.
  • Organize programs and other creative events and workshops.
  • Organize video, art, pictures, testimonies, and podcasts of programs and workshops outlining the experiences of youth
  • Organize sports and recreational programs, substance abuse/drinking awareness programs, skills based programming and other activity-based organizations that work with high needs youth.
  • Assisting unemployed youth to acquire gainful, meaningful work/volunteering.

  • Explores opportunities to increase current or new partnerships and works with supervisor to develop and implement innovative and cost-effective strategies for the program.
  • Participating in the decision-making processes of each outreach program as they relate to the creation, development, and delivery of the initiative.

Warehouse Associate – Installation Department

Roma Fence Inc. is currently seeking a full-time permanent warehouse associate to assist its Installation Department operations, Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm.

The warehouse associate will be responsible for assisting the installation team with processing of incoming and outgoing fence materials accurately and seamlessly. The warehouse associate will be responsible for loading and unloading materials regularly.

 

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • picking and packing customer material orders
  • loading and unloading materials for installation department/crews
  • bundling pipe from yard
  • preparing fittings
  • organize existing and incoming inventory
  • maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • performing other general warehousing duties as assigned
  • work in a safe manner and adhere to all Company policies and procedures as well as Health and Safety Regulations

Qualifications:

Working experience in warehouse/retail setting considered an asset

  • Excellent communications skills
  • Forklift certification
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record considered an asset
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
